Old Panteleimonas: The Stone Village Above the Aegean

Cobbled lanes, plane-tree squares and guesthouses with a view of Platamon Castle — Old Panteleimonas is Pieria at its most romantic.

Old Panteleimonas: The Stone Village Above the Aegean

Abandoned in the 1950s and beautifully revived since, Old Panteleimonas clings to the green slopes of Lower Olympus at 700 metres, looking down on Platamon Castle and the sea.

The village is car-free: you stroll cobbled lanes between restored stone houses, browse little shops selling local honey and herbs, and settle in the plane-shaded square for a long taverna lunch.

Visit in the late afternoon, when day-trippers leave and the light turns golden — then let your driver take you down for a sunset drink by the castle. No parking stress, no mountain-road worries.
