Prionia: The Gateway to Mount Olympus

Prionia is the highest point of Mount Olympus you can reach by car — and the starting point of the most famous hiking trail in Greece.

Prionia: The Gateway to Mount Olympus

At 1,100 metres on the slopes of Mount Olympus, Prionia is where the road ends and the mountain begins. It is the most popular starting point for hikers heading to the refuges and the peaks, but it is also a wonderful destination on its own.

On the way up from Litochoro you pass the Enipeas gorge, the historic Monastery of Agios Dionysios and a series of viewpoints that deserve a stop. At Prionia itself there is a small taverna by the stream — the perfect place for a coffee or lunch surrounded by century-old beech trees.

We organise private tours from Litochoro, Larissa, Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki Airport with comfortable pickup, stops at the monastery and the gorge, and flexible waiting time so you can walk as much (or as little) as you like.
