The Archaeological Museum of Dion and the Hydraulis

Statues pulled from the sanctuaries, treasures of daily Macedonian life — and the oldest pipe organ ever discovered.

The Archaeological Museum of Dion and the Hydraulis

The Archaeological Museum of Dion, in the modern village next to the park, gathers the finest finds of the sacred city: cult statues of Zeus and Isis, portraits of Roman emperors, jewellery, coins, surgical instruments and household objects that bring ancient daily life vividly close.

Its greatest treasure is the hydraulis — a water-powered pipe organ from the 1st century BC, the oldest ever found anywhere in the world. Discovered at Dion in 1992, it proves the city's deep musical tradition tied to the festivals of Zeus and the Muses.

Plan about an hour for the museum, ideally after walking the park so the finds fall into place. Museum and park have a combined ticket; our drivers handle the logistics so you only enjoy the visit.
